Do I need to perform any maintenance on my garage throughout the year?
Most of the modern garage doors that you buy don’t really require any maintenance. At most, you might want to do a quick inspection once annually to ensure everything is working properly. Try out this 3-step process!
- Visual Inspection: Check the physical parts of your garage door for any wear. Look at the pulleys, cables, chains, belts, etc. Is anything frayed? Is the rubber seal on the door bad? If so, they might need replacing. If not, move to step 2.
- Sound Inspection: Open and close your garage. Does everything SOUND okay? If it isn’t squeaking or making any strange noises. If it is, call your local garage door technician!
- Balance Test: To do this, make sure that the door is in a closed position. Disconnect it from the trolley by pulling the rope above your head (every garage door track should come with a manual rope in case of a power outage). Once disconnected, move the garage door up so that the bottom is about halfway from the floor to the ceiling. Once here, it should stay in position without moving up or down. If it moves in either direction, it is not balanced and you should contact you local garage technician immediately!

It should come down and then quickly reverse once the sensors notice the object. If the door shuts all the way, that means that the logic board is not communicating properly with the sensors.
